Comparison of Video Stabilization using Free Software

Side by side comparison of video stabilization, from a Mjx X102H drone using a XDV 4K Wifi action camera, using 3 different free video stabilization methods: VirtualDub with Deshaker video filter plugin, FFMPEG’s Deshake video filter and YouTube’s video stabilization in its free editor.

In my opinion, YouTube video stabilization wins hands-down. The image becomes a little less sharp and the edges are cut-off but it provides the best stabilization out of the 3 methods. VirtualDub with Deshaker is second with FFMPEG’s Deshake coming in last.

Please note that test were run with (mostly) default settings. Tweaking the settings manually may result in different results.
